Saturday evening Gaige spiked a 102 fever that would not go down, so we took him into the emergency room only to find out that our sweet baby has meningitis. After 2 blown iv's and a spinal tap he was admitted to Children's Hospital and immediately started on iv antibiotics and fluids. Our little guy has been such a trooper, and we are so blessed to have such a wonderful network of family and friends that have been praying for Gaige. My Mom and Dad have been helping out with the other two boys while I have been at the hospital and Brion has been going back and forth.
As of this morning the Dr.'s are pretty sure that Gaige has the viral type of meningitis, which is really a blessing as it has far less complications and lasting effects. He is still on the iv meds and fluids, but he has been eating and sleeping well and I have been holding him pretty much around the clock. As long as nothing grows on Gaige's blood cultures an his fever stops spiking he will probably get to go home sometime tomorrow. Thanks you all for your prayers and for loving this little guy so much!!!
On one of the rare occasions that Gaige has been in the hospital crib, he really prefers to be held and who am I to say no to this sweet baby. The diaper is on his arm to cover his IV, he kept using it a a pacifier when he was sleeping and the Dr's weren't too keen on that, haha.
Brion came to visit Gaige last night and brought me supper and a bag of clothes and goodies that my Mom packed...thank you Brion and Mom...and thank you Dad for doing fireworks with Mason even though it was raining, he loved it!
