A weekend away!

Brion and I had the privilege of attending a marriage retreat for policeman and their spouses this past weekend at the Winshape resort in Rome, Ga. It is truly a beautiful place and was part of the 26,000 acre campus of Berry College, and we had the most relaxing time while we were there! We went to several marriage seminars, ate great meals, hiked a couple of trails, played checkers, and sat and watched the stars at night. It was such a refreshing getaway and also so nice to get to talk to so many other police wives and know that they understand the job and all that it entails.
While we were gone Gee and Poppa watched the boys...for 3 whole days!!! This was the longest we have EVER been away from the boys, so it was a really big step for us, and Gee and Poppa, but it was so worth it to be able to reconnect and just spend quality time together! I always tell my Mom and Dad that every time they watch the boys they get a "grandparent patch" kind of like in girl/boy scouts, and they will eventually get enough "patches" to fill their sash. Well, this past weekend I decided that not only did they get their patch, the also got the sash, ceremony, and celebration party, haha! We are so grateful for them and thankful for all that they do to help us out with the boys!!!
This was the cottage that we stayed in, the scenery was absolutely breathtaking and there were lots of historical buildings all over the property.
This is a 42 foot water wheel that was used to grind corn into corn meal, it was so neat!

Another building at the resort, everything was immaculate and the rooms were incredible. The meals were fantastic and every night there was hot buttered popcorn, apple cider, and hot chocolate in the welcome building.
Sunrise...looking down at the countryside.
AND...while Mommy and Daddy were away, Mason, Tye and Gaige were at play!!! Gee and Poppa did a fabulous job watching/feeding/entertaining the boys while we were gone and here are a few pictures from Mom's phone that she sent me while we were gone.
The McDonald's play land is always a winner with our crew!

Playing out in the front yard was a favorite too!

And then there is Poppa who makes up the best games like "hurricane house", the boys LOVED this and have been begging to do it again!
Thanks again Gee and Poppa for our wonderful weekend away!!!
